Julie and Courtney from Invision Events planned Julie’s sisters wedding in Kentucky. It was such a lovely affair and we wanted to share with you.
From the Bride:
We really wanted our wedding to be very private and intimate. Our ceremony and dinner only had 23 people at it. So, we were basically planning a very formal dinner party. We wanted the fall weather and outdoor gardens to surround us as we had a perfect dinner with our guests.
Our venue was the Bodley-Bullock House in downtown Lexington. It borders a beautiful neighborhood and park. Since our ceremony and dinner was going to be very intimate, we loved how the house lent a personal feel to it and felt very private.
Having a wedding planner for a sister was of course the topping on our wedding! While our wedding was very small, the details really do get overwhelming. It was such a special time to us as sisters. So many parts of the planning process are emotional and it wouldn’t have been the same without us doing it together.
Jeff is a native of Kentucky and it’s where we live, so it was only appropriate for us to have a bourbon trend in our wedding. Our menu included bourbon influences and we had some of Jeff’s favorite candies – Bourbon Balls – on our dessert table.
I found my dress at European Bridal in Cincinnati. It was on a mannequin in the front of the store. It was the first dress I saw when I walked in, the first dress I tried on and it was the only one I seriously considered. It had the classic aspects to it like the lace, but the pinstripes and the open back with the lace panel gave it a little something different. I knew it was for me immediately!
The best advice I got was to plan my wedding the way I want it to be. It wasn’t wrong to want a very small wedding. It wasn’t wrong to have it on a Monday – our chosen venue wasn’t available on a weekend and we really wanted an October wedding. Be yourself and make your wedding meaningful for you.
