How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story. We met 11 years ago at a local smoothie shop. We were both teenagers. I thought he was arrogant and with bad-manners. He thought I was fiesty and “stuffy”. We were both wrong. We talked for hours and it felt like we had known each other for years already. Over a 7 year period we remained friends but eventually failed to keep in touch. In December of 2010 he came to see my family because my sister had fallen ill and was terminal. Though not over the most ideal circumstances, we reconnected. Two years later on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 9:32 p.m (yes I even remember the time) he proposed. Pretty sure my sister orchestrate the whole thing from heaven. To say she was his biggest fan would be an understatement!
What was the feel that you wanted to accomplish for your wedding and how did you execute that. When our wedding planners asked us this question my response was “if the Great Gatsby and the Hunger Games had a baby…that would be our wedding”. What we meant was: we wanted modern, clean, and organic without sacrificing sophistication. We executed this by making sure we had vendors that shared our aesthetic.
What about your wedding was unique to Birmingham? The people. Collier and I come from different backgrounds and have different life experiences. People of every age, ethnicity, ideology, etc were plentiful at our wedding, which is currently reflective of our city. The diversity amongst our friends and family created the most rich, memorable night ever. We had FUN.
What is the one detail or vendor that you were so happy to have as a part of your wedding? Without a doubt, our floral designers – Hot House Design Studio.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? I did not have bridesmaids; rather, I had “men of honor”. I LOVE my girls, however, some of the my most fondest memories are playing “nerf gun war” with my big brother or creating silly music videos with my nephew. To my surprise my guys were extremely attentive that day. They straighten out my train, lift me over muddy puddles, AND carried me when my feet were hurting. Can bridesmaids do that? 😉
